MAC-UK is supporting the London Borough of Havering who have launched a new Social Care Innovation Programme, ‘Face to Face Pathways’.
From September 2017, the programme will radically change how the Council engages with young people so that it delivers innovative solutions with them, not to them.
MAC-UK will be teaming up with the Council’s leaving care service to prioritise young people who are either preparing to leave care or who have already left care. We want to ensure that they get the support they need, by actively shaping the nature of that support together. Through the ‘Face to Face Pathways’ programme we will also transform the support to young people reaching adulthood, guaranteeing access to specialist services if needed.
This collaboration will take the form of an embedded interactive training team. Staff learn from one another, in a live practice environment, responding to issues as they emerge in order to maximise the capacity building opportunity.
Havering’s Director of Children’s Services, Tim Aldridge, said:
Face to Face Pathways is a fantastic opportunity for Havering to make a real and lasting difference to improve the lived experience of our children and young people in care and prepare them for a successful transition to adulthood. With our systemic approach and positive way of working with families and young people to identify their strengths, Havering is leading the field of innovative social care and is excited to work with people who want to be part of this unique programme.
